Airplane trips over the Lake District
Background:
Every year for the past 14 years, Nico has played a role in fire fighting with his spotter aircraft during the winter months. Nico is a commercial pilot with more than 1 600 hours flying time in these particular planes. He has been passionate about flying since he was very young and started to fly micro-lights in 1984. In 1990 he obtained his commercial pilot’s licence and since then has been a spottor plane pilot at the Warburton fire-fighting base (about 28km from Florence).
Florence Guest Farm Guests:
If you are a guest at Florence Guest Farm, you are welcome to go for a flip to see the Lake District from the air. It is worth while! I would like to compare it with the Okovango Swamps; if you have not see it from the air, you have not see it at all.
When Nico took Prof. Leon Hugo ( Dept. Eco-Tourism UP) for a flight over the lakes, he came back with tears in his eyes and said “ It is a oasis never discovered”.
Season:
1 June to 30 October on calm days, normally early in the morning.
Costs:
R500 for a flight of 30 minutes 3 persons maximum.
