Frog Nights

Time of year

Just after the first rains of summer, you can hear our frogs starting  to call in the wetlands all around us. Every year we host a frog festival, the first weekend in December, when we go out to catch and identify the frogs. We have 13 species of frogs already identified in our lake district.

Guests at Florence Guest Farm

If you’re a guest at Florence in summer time, your own frog night can be arranged,  Chrissiesmeer has its own local frog  guides  which can take you down to the wetlands and help you catch and identify frogs. All you need is a torch, a raincoat and shoes suitable for walking in the water . The cost is R100 per group and R20 per person per night.
