Winter farming continues as usual. Mother hen surprised us with 3 baby chicks and our baby orphan lamb and calf are thriving on good nourishment and much attention from our younger guests.

Die winter van 2010 sit ek dag vir dag in die lekker warm sonnetjie in my woonkamer, maar ek dink en beplan dat die rook so staan… Die nuwe Trou Venue… moet dit gebeur of moet dit nie gebeur ? As ek begin kan ek nie omdraai. Wil ek dit doen ? Moet ek dit doen ? Wat gaan ek met my lewe doen die volgende 20 goeie seisoene wat voorlę ? Nico het my aangepor en gesę: “ Kyk na die groot vroue, die Margaret Thatcher’s en Hellen Zilli’s, hulle het eers na 50 hul ding gedoen, die kinders is uit die huis en tyd is weer jou eie… go for it” Nouja…. Sie daar… Ek het begin planne optrek.

In November word my mamma(75) baie siek, sy ondergaan ‘n groot nek operasie, dis ‘n gespook tussen haar, my pa en alles wat daarmee saam gaan. Ons het ‘n heerlike kersfees saam met my broer Braam en sy familie op Ponta Malongane in Mozambiek. Net daana besef ek ek sal iets moet doen vir my ouers, hulle wil nie na ‘n tehuis gaan. Ons plaas mense sukkel maar met daai tiepe besluite. Ek bou vir hulle ‘n huisie hier langs my en binne 4 maande trek hulle in, ’n rustigheid het oor hulle gekom. Dis maar ‘n pad wat ek sal moet stap en glo ek sal krag kry vir wat ek ook al moet doen. En toe k... more
